Back tae Auld Claes and Cauld Porritch

Monday 7 January 2013
Twelfth night has been and gone and the festivities are officially over. There have certainly been over indulgences on my part and its actually quite refreshing to get back to some sense of normality and stop the constant grazing and alcohol at every opportunity. I need to shed the Christmas lbs so I'm back following the Slimming World plan. I successfully lost over two and a half stone with it a couple of years ago and despite seasonal blips I've maintained my loss as a target member.

Whilst reigning myself back to target, planning is the key and as such I'm going to be joining in more regularly with #mealplanningmonday hosted by At Home with Mrs M. She's already been a bad influence on me with the list of Christmas goodies she received from Santa and I've had to copycat and splash out on a What to Eat pad. I cannot resist stationery.

All my main meals this week are tried and tested dishes from past issues of Slimming World magazine.

Monday - Chicken and Mushroom Pies
Chicken, leek, bacon, mushroom and tarragon in a mustard gravy topped with potato.
Tuesday - Smoked Salmon Pasta
Pasta, smoked salmon, broccoli, courgette, spring onion and spinach in a greek youghut sauce
Wednesday - Five Bean Chilli
Lean minced beef chilli with five beans and lots of hidden veg
Thursday - Andalucian Meatballs
Pork meatballs flavoured with cumin, coriander, nutmeg, cinamon and garlic.
Friday - Mango Glazed Chicken
Chicken bake with potatoes, red onion, sugar snap peas, mango chutney and fresh mango.
Saturday - Maple Glazed Salmon with Carrot and Neep Mash
Salmon Fillet glazed with maple syrup, soy sauce and wholegraiin mustard.
Sunday - Pork Wrapped in Parma Ham
Fillet of pork rolled in sage and onion stuffing and wrapped in parma ham.

A quick explanation for anyone who doesn't get the Scots title. It translates as Back to Old Clothes and Cold Porridge. Still none the wiser? Its a timely phrase for canny Scots in that when you are out of money, particularly after spending a lot on Christmas or a holiday, its time to get back to basics/normal. Enjoy your normal whatever it may be.

I am here drooling. I also want that meal planner.....but 15 mins ago I bemoaned my financial status to the husband so he is forbidding me from buying it!!!!!!!! Boring Word printouts it is then :( ;)
